Hook
The opening seconds of a short video that earn continued watch time — a visual and verbal promise before the main tip. A weak hook cannot be rescued by a great payoff the viewer never reaches.
In a HypeNest pass
HypeNest surfaces candidate openings from the source. Your review job is to keep the first two seconds specific: who this is for, what they will learn, and a picture that matches. Generic “wait for it” hooks are the first cuts to kill.
FAQ
- How long is a hook on Shorts or TikTok?
- Treat the first 1–3 seconds as the gate. If they bounce, later packaging never gets a chance.
- Can AI write the spoken hook?
- It can propose lines. You still pick the one that matches the visual and the niche. Review-before-publish exists for that reason.
Try the workflow
Draft captioned short clips from one long video, review every cut, then publish to YouTube and TikTok.
