There is no universal best hour to post YouTube Shorts or TikToks in 2026. Start with the hours your own viewers are active, then compare similar posts in two time windows. YouTube says publish time may help early views but is not known to affect long-term performance.
Find a YouTube Shorts starting window
In YouTube Studio, open Analytics → Audience → When your viewers are on YouTube. The chart reflects your viewers' activity across YouTube over the past 28 days. Pick one active period in your audience's time zone. If the chart is unavailable, start with a time you can publish consistently and use the results from your own Shorts to refine it.
Find a separate TikTok window
In TikTok Studio, open Analytics → Viewers to check activity times where available. TikTok and YouTube may reach different audiences, so do not copy one schedule to the other. Check the time zone of the viewers you want to reach before scheduling.
Test two windows without guessing
- Choose two practical windows from your audience data, such as an active afternoon and evening period. Keep the time zone and day of week visible in your schedule.
- Publish several comparable videos in each window. Keep topic, format and video quality as similar as you can; one post is too noisy to decide a schedule.
- Compare early views and watch behavior at the same age after posting, then keep the window that works repeatedly. Recheck as your audience changes.
What to measure
For Shorts, compare shown in feed, how many chose to view versus swiped away, and average view duration in YouTube Studio. For TikTok, compare views and audience activity in TikTok Studio. Timing cannot repair a weak opening or an unclear topic.
